The Kiribati Provident Fund is a national compulsory saving scheme set up in July 1977 by an Act of Parliament, where both the employees who are contributors to the scheme and their employers pay monthly contributions to the Fund at a specified rate and these contributions are credited into the individual contributors account to which interest is added annually. It replaces the Government pension and gratuity scheme.
